EAGLE, Idaho – The Eagle Mustangs (3-0) kept things rolling Thursday night with a 54-43 win at home against the Timberline Wolves (2-1) . Senior Donovan Jones led the Mustangs with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.  Jones came out attacking –  scoring the first 7 of Eagle’s 9 first-quarter points. Senior Landon White and Sophomore Hudson Van Alfen added 12 points apiece.

Things were tight early as Timberline led 9-10 after the first quarter.  But early in the second quarter the Wolves got into foul trouble which resulted in the Mustangs taking advantage at the free throw line and claiming a 23-19 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the Mustangs continued to dominate inside with a balanced attack from Jones and White. Van Alfen got a three to drop and senior Garner Lake converted on a nifty drive from the corner.  By the end of the third quarter the Mustangs lead had increased to 6 with a score of 38-32.

In the fourth quarter it was a heavy dose of Donovan Jones and the Mustangs started to pull away. Jones added another 8 points as Timberline simply couldn’t find a way to stop the 6’6″ senior. Eagle hit free throws down the stretch and increased their win streak to 3 beating Timberline by a score of 54-43.

Eagle’s next game is Saturday night at home against the Skyview Hawks at 7:30pm.
