EAGLE – It’s not just hype. The return of Russell Gibson is real.
On Tuesday night Eagle opened conference play by hosting rival Rocky Mountain. In their previous outing versus Bishop Kelly, Eagle relied heavily on big men Landon White and Sawyr Hansen to secure the win. This time junior guard Russell Gibson also wanted in on the action. Did the ‘Big 2’ just turn into the ‘Big 3’? It appears so.
In what was mostly a back-and-forth competition, Gibson was cooking all night long – scoring on fast breaks, from mid-range and from deep. Gibson shot 5-6 from the field and 1-2 from the foul line finishing with a team-high 12 points. Yes, folks, it appears he’s back.
Eagle pulled away late for the 53-43 win. White finished with 11 points and Hansen added 10.
